Tuesday, January 7th (Day 1): DEPART USA
Depart for overnight flight to Tel Aviv with complimentary meals and beverages served aloft.
Wednesday, January 8th (Day 2): ARRIVE TEL AVIV / TRANSFER TO TIBERIAS
On arrival we will be met by our Catholic tour guide and proceed to our hotel in Tiberias on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. (D)
Thursday, January 9th (Day 3): TIBERIAS: NAZARETH / CANA
Drive to Nazareth, the site of Mary’s home and the town where Jesus played as a child, learned a trade, and grew to manhood. We will have Mass in the Church of the Annunciation, and an opportunity to visit the Church of St. Joseph. We will then travel to Cana, where Jesus performed His first miracle at the request of his mother. There we will visit the Franciscan chapel for a renewal of wedding vows. Return to Tiberias for dinner and overnight. (B, D)
Friday, January 10th (Day 4): TIBERIAS: SEA OF GALILEE SITES / MT BEATITUDES
After breakfast, we will drive to the Mt. of Beatitudes for a visit, Mass, and reflection time. We continue on to Capernaum where Jesus began his Galilean ministry. See the synagogue which dates to the time of Jesus and the site of Peter’s home. After lunch (included), we will visit Tabgha where Jesus fed the crowd of 5,000. We will end the day with a boat ride for a brief excursion on the Sea of Galilee. Return to our hotel in Tiberias for dinner and relaxation. (B, L, D)
Saturday, January 11th (Day 5): PRIMACY OF PETER / CAESAREA PHILIPPI
This morning we drive to the church of “Peter’s Primacy”, the site where, after His Resurrection, Jesus met with his disciples and told Peter to “feed my lambs; feed my sheep.” Here we Fr. Mueller will celebrate Holy Mass. After Mass, we will drive to the Golan Heights and stop to see the site of Caesarea Philippi, where Jesus asked His disciples “Who do People say that I am?” Drive up higher on the Golan Heights and come to the Druze Villages. Return to the Sea of Galilee for dinner and overnight. (B, D)
Sunday, January 12th (Day 6): MT TABOR / JACOB’S WELL / JERUSALEM
Today we begin our journey with Jesus to Jerusalem where He is condemned, crucified, and rose from the dead. We begin that journey as Jesus did by a trip to Mount Tabor where Jesus is Transfigured before Peter, James, and John, and they glimpse a sign of His glory before they witness His passion and death. Following Mass on Mount Tabor, we continue on to visit Jacob’s Well (pending confirmation) where Jesus had the encounter with the Samaritan woman. We will finish the day by arriving in Jerusalem to check into our hotel. (B, D)
Monday, January 13th (Day 7): JERUSALEM / BETHLEHEM
Today we travel to the Shepherds’ Field for Mass in the Shepherds’ Cave. We enter the town of Bethlehem to visit the Church of the Nativity. If time permits on our return to Jerusalem, we will visit the Model of Jerusalem in the 2nd Temple Period. The Old Walled City today has changed since the time of Jesus. This evening we will have the opportunity to spend some time in meditation in the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus prayed the night before he was crucified, pending confirmation. (B, D)
Tuesday, January 14th (Day 8): JERUSALEM: MT. OF OLIVES & MT. ZION
This morning the bus takes us to the Garden of Gethsemane along with the Church of All Nations where we will celebrate Mass. Afterwards we continue up the hill where we overlook the city of Jerusalem where Jesus wept over the city. We continue across the Kidron Valley to the site of Caiaphas’ Palace where Jesus experienced the Jewish portion of His trial. The site is known today as St. Peter in Gallicantu. We also visit the upper Room where Jesus had his last Supper. Return to our hotel for dinner. (B, D)
Wednesday, January 15th (Day 9): JERUSALEM: VIA DOLOROSA & HOLY SEPULCHRE
We begin the morning early to walk the Via Dolorosa, the Way of the Cross. Following the Via Dolorosa, we proceed to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the site where Jesus was crucified and where he was buried. Here Fr. Mueller will offer the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. We will return to the hotel for breakfast before we get a tour of the “Old City” of Jerusalem, including a visit to St. Stephen’s Gate, the Church of St. Anne, the Pool of Bethesda where Jesus healed the paralytic, and the Western Retaining Wall of the Temple (the “Wailing Wall”). The remaining portion of the day will be free to relax, shop, or walk in the Old City. (B, D)
Thursday, January 16th (Day 10): JERUSALEM: DEAD SEA / JERICHO / JORDAN RIVER
Today, we have an excursion to the Dead Sea. But first we will drive to the Jordan River where Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist. Here we will renew our Baptismal Promises. Continuing on to Jericho, we will visit Tel Jericho where Fr. Mueller will celebrate Mass at the Good Shepherd’s Church. After Mass, we will view the Mount of Temptation and see a Sycamore tree to remember the story of Zacchaeus. We will have the opportunity to go in the Dead Sea for a float before we drive back to Jerusalem! (B, D) *Departure for USA could range from late Thursday evening through early Friday morning.
Friday, January 17th (Day 11): JERUSALEM / USA
Return home with the memories of a lifetime!
